2. Once you find the spot, clean it thoroughly and apply a disinfectant.

4. After collecting the required amount of blood for the test into a test tube, the needle is removed and a piece of cotton or gauze is placed and pressed to stop the bleeding.

How do you understand the report?
You will receive your report in one or two days. The report usually contains information like this:
- Test name: e.g. "Serum Chloride"
- Your result: shown as a number.
- Normal Range: Shows what the normal values should be for a healthy person.
- Is the result normal or not: Your value is indicated as Normal, High, or Low.
The normal chloride level for an adult is between 96 and 106 milliequivalents per liter (mEq/L) .
But keep one thing in mind, this 'Normal Range' can vary slightly from one lab to another. That's why your report will also mention what their normal values are. Don't jump to conclusions based on the numbers in the report. Leave it to your doctor to explain what it means exactly.
