In fact, many people have this condition at a very mild level. They may not even know they have it because they don't have any major symptoms. So it's hard to say exactly how common it is.
However, another related condition, Immune Thrombocytopenia , has been found to affect about 3-4 out of 100,000 children and adults. Also, about 5% of pregnant women may develop mild thrombocytopenia shortly before delivery.
