Early Recognition of Plasma Leakage and Red-Flag Triage During the Defervescence (Critical) Phase of Dengue Fever in Sri Lanka
Abstract (English)
In Sri Lanka, severe dengue mortality is primarily driven by unrecognized capillary plasma leakage during the 24–48 hour defervescence window (Day 3 to Day 5 of illness), when patients mistakenly believe fever subsidence indicates recovery. This clinical guidance outlines practical outpatient fluid monitoring, urine output targets (≥ 0.5–1.0 mL/kg/hr), NSAID contraindications, and immediate hospital admission red flags.
(Sinhala Abstract)
