You have two adrenal glands. They are located

What actually happens to the adrenal glands?
As we mentioned earlier, the main function of the adrenal glands is to produce hormones. These hormones can be divided into two main groups. They are catecholamines and steroid hormones. There are two parts to this gland. The inner part is called the Adrenal Medulla, and the outer part is called the Adrenal Cortex. These two parts produce various hormones.
Imagine you're walking down the street and suddenly a dog jumps out, or you see a car speeding by. At that moment, your heart rate increases, your eyes widen, and your breathing rate increases, right? That "fight or flight" response is triggered by hormones secreted by the adrenal glands .
